Teaching Italian to foreign students using comics – Pre-Intermediate/Advanced (B1-C1)

The series is addressed to young adult and adult students, who wish to discover the pleasure of reading through the most popular Italian comics.

The series Imparare l’italiano con i fumetti presents the most popular and loved characters of Italian comics:

  • Dylan Dog (abridged stories), the unpredictable investigator who was created in 1986 by Tiziano Sclavi’s imagination and Angelo Strano’s pencils
  • Julia (abridged stories), the fascinating criminologist who was created by Giancarlo Berardi in 1998
  • Corto Maltese (entire stories), the legendary romantic adventurer Corto Maltese who was created by Hugo Pratt in 1967Each fully-coloured volume is divided as following:
  • Short introduction on the authors, the characters of the story, and the general context, followed by ‘Before Reading Activities’ to facilitate understanding
  • Original comic strips, including explanations on the most difficult passages
  • Activities, quizzes and games to reflect on the story
  • Page including brief information and trivia about the story and characters of the comic.

The volume can be used either in classroom or for self-study, thanks to the keys in the appendix. While reading, students can choose to listen to the audio version, which has been recorded by professional actors and includes music themes and sound effects to bring each story to life.
